North Cowichan and the Cowichan Aquatic Centre are looking to better understand how local families access swimming lessons and what may be preventing participation.

Your feedback will help guide the future planning and ensure swimming better meet the needs of the people in our community.

The phase 1 survey closed on March 29, 2026.

Phase 2

Thank you to everyone who took the phase 1 survey on swimming lessons and pool access. Your feedback helps us better understand community needs and informs us about future improvements.

What we heard:
  • demand for swimming lessons remains very high, and the current registration process can be stressful and difficult to navigate,
  • there is interest in how and when swimming lessons are released for registration,
  • current swim lesson times do not work for all households,
  • some respondents indicated support to limit pool availability for general public access in order to allow for more swim lesson times
Next steps

Your input from the phase 1 survey, along with registration data and operational analysis, has helped to develop the phase 2 survey. This follow up survey further explores potential changes to registration processes, lesson scheduling and availability, and pool space allocation.

Phase 2 survey closes on June 7, 2026.
